Birdwatching, Manhattan style -- Pt. 81

A few minutes ago, I brushed shoulders with one of my movie star crushes (hi Flo!), the lovely Maggie Gyllenhaal, at Joe: The Art of Coffee on 13th Street.

And while I'm unwilling to jump to any conclusions regarding our silent encounter -- I'm only reporting the facts here -- I can tell you that she gave me a second look, glancing at me over her right shoulder as we stood waiting for our respective cups of java.

Mind you, I was wearing a vintage double-breasted suit with peak lapels, an old-school bow tie, and a cocoa-hued fedora, so she might well have been thinking, "Who's the freak?"

But given that none of us can presume to know just what Ms. G was thinking, I prefer to imagine her asking herself, "Who's the dreamboat in the classy get-up?"

Backtracking a bit, Flo and I saw character actor John Cullum at an opening night on Theatre Row on Friday night, and on Saturday evening, we spotted Michael Feinstein, Tyne Daly, and Frank Langella at Marilyn Maye's show at The Metropolitan Room.
