California, here I come!

On Saturday, my Flo and I are going to Los Angeles for a week of rest and relaxation.

I've slowly come around on the City of Angels. My first couple of visits were enjoyable enough, but I didn't find the city particularly engaging. After spending a week there in two of the past three summers, however, I've been won over.

I view the city through a movie buff's eye, primarily, and spend my time motoring about checking out movie stars' homes, vintage movie palaces, and locations for favorite classic pictures (though I'm also happy just puttering through the various old neighborhoods south of the Hollywood hills -- I love the residential architecture in old L.A.).

To mark our trip, I now share with you here some photos I bought at a flea market some years back. They're snapshots taken around Hollywood and its environs back in the day (how old they are, exactly, I'm not sure -- I'm open to guesses from B&Y readers). All these photos were described in pencil on the back of the print.
