Rachel Maddow, the smartest and most deserving voice in the knuckleheaded universe of talk radio and political punditry, is getting her own television show on MSNBC.
If you've not been listening to Maddow all along on Air America Radio, you've been missing out. And the word is, she'll continue that gig, which is great news, even as she gains a new audience via television, and that's a good thing for her and for us.
Even thinking conservatives (those few who remain) will find her worth checking out. They won't agree with her always (or even, perhaps, often), but she won't insult their intelligence and she'll give them (and the rest of us) plenty to think about.
it's just amazing to think that a woman who is a lesbian, a liberal, a non-screamer, and has a brain in her head and a facility for something other than creating controversy has beend given a show. It's heartening
Reasoned and intelligent discourse, and with a liberal flair. Finally, one (admitteldy minor) network's exhibiting some brains -- and some balls, to boot.
It'll be 24 hours of Barbara Stanwyck tomorrow on Turner Classic Movies, as part of their Summer of the Stars festival this month. They're avoiding the more familiar titles, and most viewers will find a few things they've not seen (including, at 6 p.m., Stanwyck's talkie debut, THE LOCKED DOOR), so clear out some space on that Tivo.
